Glen Campbell Fights Alzheimer’s

The “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” singer Glen Campbell has had a few rough years. 2011 brought him the devastating news that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s and his life will never be the same again.

Blackout Mode

Campbell recently spoke to a reported from ABC news and said that he didn’t notice anything different in himself because he had always been “forgetful.” The country singer has been barred from having alcohol owing to his DUI case. His DUI lawyers tried their best to keep him from serving time but he still spent 10 days in a work furlough and some nights in prison.

The case made headlines because of Campbell’s nonchalant excuses given to his DUI lawyers and the judge. Campbell said that he was “not drunk, but simply over served.” That sounds like an answer Bill Clinton would give to a basic and straight up question. The “Gentle on My Mind” singer also stated that he couldn’t remember anything of the incident because he was in a “blackout mode.” He was also reported as saying that it was sign from God asking him to slowdown. Well, the Lord or not, it seems he was due some sort of punishment for his neglect of his civic duties which is to not drive intoxicated.

A Good Man

His wife and he have a few tough years ahead of them now. DUI lawyers and the case have been dealt with but Alzheimer’s is not as easily dispelled. The 75 year old could not remember exactly how old he was when he was asked the questions in the interview. He said 78 but his wife corrected him. He has been prescribed with medicine to control the manifestations of Alzheimer’s. He is a good person and a solid American.
